Maata sources the purest and highest quality botanicals and oils available globally and locally. We search for nutrient dense, sustainably grown, ethically produced and cruelty-free raw materials — and whenever possible, we focus on cultivating relationships with small scale producers. Our products are handcrafted in small batches in Ottawa, made lovingly and with respect for our planet’s bounty and in honour of your self-care rituals.

Our Ethos

Maata Skincare is born from a place of remembering and loving ourselves. Self-care rituals from around the world inspire us. We invite you to take time to revel in your skin and celebrate the body temple and the spirit that resides within. 

Our products offer the magic of plant alchemy. They are crafted from our hearts and validated through science. We are a relational company – we stand in our integrity and values from seed to bottle and into your hands. The intention is to offer products that perform, make you smile, and connect with your skin, senses, and spirit. 

Our Evolving Nature

Thank you for being on a journey with us and for supporting products that are gentle on you and Mother Earth. Creating a community that understands and supports our sustainability and social missions is fundamental to our brand and we are pleased to be creating partnerships and collaborations with local makers, artists, and organizations.

Our commitment is to give at minimum 1% of gross sales to organizations supporting conservation of natural spaces and Indigenous well-being. Our streams of giving will include product donations, project focused donations, and monetary donations with key collaborators. One Tree Planted is our partner for planting one tree for each product sold. Partner organizations for clean drinking water in Indigenous communities and those supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report are currently being established. Our sustainable packaging, pictured above, is in collaboration with artist Whitney Lewis-Smith and Grace Wittig.

We are humbled to be residing on unceded territory of the Anishinaabe people and creating an artisanal range that embraces a holistic approach to skin care and business.
